Estimated ten's of thousands of Comcast and Xfinity customers from Naples, south to Leesburg, in the north were offline for over six hours Monday, after a main fiber optic cable was cut, according to a company statement.
"We have experienced a fiber cut that is impacting our services. Network and engineering teams are working to repair the lines and restore services as quickly as possible," Mindy Kramer, vice president of public relations for the Comcast Florida Region in West Palm Beach said in an emailed statement. "We sincerely apologize to our customers for this inconvenience, and we are doing everything possible to bring their services back on line."
Pine Island service was restored around 7:30 pm.
