The "emergency" phase of the Pine Island agriculture debris removal will be ending within a few weeks. As of this date, debris piles on property owners frontage and those fronting on Stringfellow Rd., from the north tip of Bokeelia to about midway to Pine Island Center have been serviced. South from St. James has been slightly behind this progress due to the larger area and may take a little longer.
This didn't include other material that wasn't agri debris.
As the trucks are loading, a supervisor, following the truck, checks the weight to insure it meets load-limit maximum's especially as it concerns going over the bridges in Matlacha.
Regular household garbage pickup began about two weeks ago.
Like building repairs and rebuilding, the non-emergency area debris removal will likely take years.
