The Kiwanis Club of Pine Island, in conjunction with the Matlacha Hookers recently sponsored a "Casino Night" fund-raiser at the Tarpon Lodge. The event netted $7,800.

A very special artist's reception for Leoma Lovegrove also served to launch a community-wide art project. The reception was held on June 16th at Southwest Florida International Airport where Lovegrove's 18 by 10 foot American flag is hanging through October of 2012.

On June 10, the LDC Advisory Committee reviewed the Matlacha Overlay Plan.

Large Fire Off Harbor Drive in Bokeelia
