FEMA Trailers to be Removed by Aug. 1st

Official Release 5/1/23 from FEMA:

"Under certain conditions, FEMA may allow the placement of Transportable Temporary Housing Units (TTHUs) within a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA).  This is only after all other practicable alternatives have been exhausted within a community that has been approved for FEMA’s Direct Temporary Housing Program.

While FEMA determined that some sites within the SFHA were suitable for TTHUs, travel trailers within the SFHA on Pine Island and other islands and similarly situated areas must be vacated by August 1, 2023. This is to protect occupants and their properties, and to minimize harm to and within floodplains.

Occupants will be given the opportunity to relocate to another site if they continue to qualify for direct housing assistance."
